This year's competition theme is "Celebrate your teacher in words".

You can write five words or five lines, but your entry must be no more than 150 words long.

You can write a slogan or a sonnet, an advertising jingle or an anthem, a poem or a word puzzle, a short story or song lyrics, a limerick or a letter, a composition or a comedy sketch, a ballad or blank verse, haiku or a headline.




   Entries close 4:30pm, Friday 25 September 2009

   Winners will be notified and their entries posted to this website on 
          World Teachers' Day, 30 October, 2009.



You can win prizes for yourself, your class and your teacher! Each winning entry and the teacher featured will win a prize. Entries will be judged on creativity, originality and writing quality and according to age group (Kindergarten-Year 3, Years 4-7, Years 8-10, Years 11-12).



Any K-Year 12 student in a Western Australian school. The competition is open to school-based and private entries, from indviduals or groups. Entry is free.

Make sure your entry includes a completed entry form!



Your entry must celebrate and feature a Western Australian school teacher. It can be your current class teacher, your principal, or a teacher who has taught you before.

All writing must be your own work. If you didn't write it, please don't submit it! It can be as short as you like, but it must not be longer than 150 words.

All entries must include a completed entry form. You can enter online or download and complete an entry form and return it via email or post.

By entering the competition, you grant the College copyright of the material and the right to reproduce or use all or portions of your entry for promotional purposes. Please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope if you wish your entry returned after judging.

Selected entries will appear in the World Teachers' Day section of this website in the lead-up to the closing date, and winning entries will appear on the website when announced. The College will contact winners and may request permission to photograph contestants for promotional purposes.

You must meet the entry deadline - 4:30pm on Friday 25 September 2009.
