About our logo
The Western Australian College of Teaching logo was revealed at the College launch on September 15 2004.
The three lines can be interpreted to represent:
• the three sectors: Government, Independent and Catholic;
• the three stages of learning: pre-compulsory, compulsory and post-compulsory; and
• the three stages of schooling: early childhood, primary and secondary.
The lines can also be seen to be a person with outstretched arms encompassing all children – representing inclusivity.
The globe is to represent that learning is never-ending.
The colours are gold, representing the value of learning, and blue, representing the depths of understanding.
Many designs were considered in choosing a College design and a lively debate was had about the various designs put forward. It was felt the logo which was selected encapsulated many ideas that were shared about education.
